Colophon

Here’s how it went down:

JeremeMongeon.com is built on WordPress.

Before I hacked it up, this site’s original WordPress theme was “Kubrick” by Michael Heilemann. That’s why there’s a quote from Full Metal Jacket in the source code.

And by the way: Full Metal Jacket is a crappy movie.

(No offense, Michael. I’m just saying.)

This site’s WordPress functionality is extended using several plugins.

Most notably:

Most of the content on this site is initially published on other domains, including:

The content is imported via RSS and parsed into XHTML using SimplePie, a PHP class written by Ryan Parman and Geoffrey Sneddon. Also, thanks goes out to Japheth Thomson for providing the tutorial showing me how to use SimplePie to create a photo gallery.

Prior to being imported for use on this site, most of the content is reformatted using Yahoo! Pipes. Pipes was created by Pasha Sadri, Ed Ho, Jonathan Trevor, Kevin Cheng, and Daniel Raffel.

Semantic metadata is added to the content using RDFa statements. These statements were validated using the SIOC RDF Browser, which was built by Uldis Bojars.

hCard data extraction is done using X2V by Brian Suda.

All the custom code was written using vi and mi. You’d think those two names rhyme, but apparently they don’t.

This site is hosted by Hosting Matters. Thanks to Annette for amazing technical support.

Traditionally, a colophon is used to talk about fonts and stuff like that. But this is the freaking internet, and we like to separate presentation from content. So I’m not going to talk about the fonts used here. But it’s safe to say the visual design of this site owes a significant debt to Matthew Carter.
